About the Position: Serves as Air Traffic Control Specialist (Terminal) at Godman Army Airfield Tower. Responsible for the safe, orderly and expeditious flow of aircraft operating In Godman Tower area of responsibility (5 miles radius).

Duties

Handle aircraft operating under visual flight rules (see and be seen). Prepare flight progress strips. Issue ground control instructions to aircraft and vehicles. Provide instructions and guidance to trainee controllers (civilian and military).

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Position is covered by civilian drug testing program.
  • Incumbent is required to sign a DA Form 5019-R, "Condition of employment for certain civilian positions identified as critical under the Drug Abuse Testing program," or a memorandum of understanding.
  • The incumbent of this position must be able to meet a Class IV Aviation flight physical.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a valid Air Traffic Control Specialist Certificate and/or Control Tower Operator Certificate, if appropriate.
  • These certificates require demonstrating knowledge of basic meteorology, basic air navigation, standard air traffic control and communications procedures, the types and uses of air navigation aids, and regulations governing air traffic.
  • This position is subject to rotational shifts, changes in duty hours and is subject to being on call based on situational requirements.
