About the Position: This position is located at the 407th Army Feild Support Brigade, Logistics Readiness Center at Fort Cavazos, Texas. Fort Cavazos rests in the beautiful 'hill and lake' country of Central Texas between Killeen and Copperas Cove and is approximately 60 miles north of the capital city of Austin.
Duties
Responsible for issuing all special tools, test sets, and bench stock for day-to-day operations to keep maintenance flowing through the shops.
Issue controlled supply items such as penetrants, oils, and HAZMAT to authorized requesting personnel.
Receive and inspect tools being turned in for completeness, serviceability and cleanliness.
Submit requisition for replenishment of bench stock such as nuts and bolts as well as repair parts for tools.
Verify correct nomenclature stock/serial number, source, purchase price, and other information required to purchase items, using supply catalogs and technical manuals Forwards approved request through appropriate supply channels.
Research discrepancies for overages, shortages, substitutes, validity, etc.
Operate pickup truck, flatbed truck, sedan or van to transport messages and other documents, small parts, supplies and similar items to and from the shop area.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Pre-employment and annual physical examination required. Required to lift up to 75 lbs.
- Required to obtain and maintain a valid state driver?s license and any installation and/or DoD license required for the type of vehicle being driven.

I have the ability to perform common tasks including receiving, issuing and storing tools and equipment and inspecting tools and equipment upon return. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work requires prolonged standing and walking on concrete floors. Incumbent must be able frequently lift and carry tools, parts, supplies, and equipment that weigh up to 5 kilograms (10 pounds ) on occasion may be required to lift up to 40lbs and up to 75lbs with assistance. When operating a fork lift or motor vehicle, incumbent is required to have good hand, eye, and foot coordination for the manipulation of gears, levers, brakes, pedals, and other similar controls.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed inside in a maintenance shop environment and occasionally outdoors, subject to inclement weather conditions. Work area is frequently inadequately heated and cooled. Work area is dirty, greasy, and noisy. Incumbent is exposed to exhaust fumes and chemical solvents. Possible injury results from falling objects, electrical shock, cuts, bruises or falls. Constantly working in vicinity of operating vehicles or equipment with moving parts.
