About the Position: Serves as a Transportation Management Specialist and Joint Operations Planning and Execution System (JOPES) functional manager with the Movement Operations Center, J4 Sustainment Directorate, HQ US Special Operations Command South (SOCSOUTH).

Duties

Serve as the subject matter expert and civilian staff authority on the use of the automated planning processes in Joint Operations Planning and Execution System (JOPES) and related planning and deployment execution systems. Review, coordinate, monitor, and provide interface with SOUTHCOM service components and Army commands in the SOUTHCOM Area of Responsibility. Develop policy, doctrine, and plan for short and long-range projects as it pertains to Army transportation programs, systems, and support requirements in SOUTHCOM. Provide essential continuity in analysis and implementation of progressive improvements to SOCSOUTH control procedures and methods. Primary responsibilities include coordination and execution of deployment/ redeployment/rotation of forces.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top Secret security clearance with eligibility for access to Special Compartmentalized Information (SCI) for the duration of employment.
  • A pre-employment and recurring comprehensive background investigation that includes, but is not limited to, contact with all references, employers, co-workers, personal associates,
  • and a review of your driving record, credit history, criminal history, and military service are required.
  • The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. Detection of the presence of drugs is warranted.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
  • This position requires the incumbent to have a current valid state driver?s license.
  • Incumbent is subject to no notice call ins during non-duty hours for crisis action, contingency deployments, and other short notice operations. May be required to work other than normal duty hours, shift work, evenings, weekends and or holidays.
  • Temporary duty (TDY) travel may be required up to 15% of the time. The incumbent will be required to travel on military and commercial aircraft.
  • Position is designated as a "Key Position" in accordance with AR 690-11. This position shall not be vacated during a national emergency or during mobilization without seriously impairing the capability of the agency to function effectively.
  • Because of the essential nature of this position, it should not be filled by Ready Reservists or military retirees with re-call obligations to preclude such positions from being vacated during a mobilization.
