You will serve as a Secretary (OA) in the Information Technology Division of NAVAL RESEARCH LABORATORY.

Duties

You will manage the office of the Division Head. You will received all calls and visitors, ascertain the nature of the call or business, and determine appropriate action You will review all incoming and outgoing correspondence for proper format, correct grammatical content, and ensure that established policy has been followed. You will coordinate the Division Head's calendar and schedule appointments and meetings You will prepare a variety of documents using office automation systems, such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. You will organize and maintain division files, classified materials, records and logs. You will make travel arrangements for the Division Head and supporting staff. You will be responsible for both badge and decal issuance and tracking for all NRL personnel.

Requirements

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position is considered Key/Non-Combat Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support of the expeditionary requirements in other than combat or combat support situations.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-01/04) or pay band (NC-01) in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing most or all of the following duties: (1) utilizing office automation equipment and processes; (2) performing administrative and clerical duties i.e filing, answering phone calls, making appointments; (3) generating reports, typing and ensuring grammatical correctness of correspondence and ensuring proper routing procedures are followed; (4) providing assistance to others through customer service in an office/business setting; (5) maintaining calendars; (6) Light lifting, coordinating and organizing office for meetings and events; (7) making arrangement for travel, transportation, conferences, and meetings. Education

In lieu of general/specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

Successful completion of at least 4 years above high school education
Or
A combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience. My percentage of the required education plus my percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.
