The primary purpose of this position is to provide technical direction with operational authority on technical matters with the OC-ALC Metrology and Calibration Flight (MCG) and to act as the ALC focal point on matters involving technical (MCF) metrology practices.
Duties
Provides metrology technology guidance and direction by solving operational and maintenance/ repair problems for
the Matters Involving Technical (MCF) and the Air Logistic Center (ALC).
Assess the impact on MCF product accuracy based on 'as received data' from calibrators of MCF standards.
Recommend the redesign of faulty equipment and tools or the substitution of materials.
Implements and manages all MCF product recalls with the input of quality and production control.

Qualifications
Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions.. Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-11, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includesassessing, interpreting, calibrating and measuring authorities for technical data and documents. Researching products produced by the standard and the assessment of the impact on the accuracy of the maintenance and repairs items. Identifying and reporting training needs in the use of repairs, and maintenance of equipment. Performing various technical operational support and make recommendations to resolve equipment issues.

FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-?grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-11 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-12 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge in fundamentals of metrology.
2. Knowledge and skill in the application of DOD, AF and AFMETCAL engineering principles, concepts and methodologies and technical order directives, concepts, procedures, guidance, and policy.
3. Knowledge and skill in applying analytical and evaluative techniques to the identification, consideration and resolution of issues or problems concerning technical issues within the OC-ALC MCF.
4. Skill in conducting interviews with supervisors, technicians, customers, engineers, and others to obtain information about organizational missions, functions, equipment, and work processes.
5. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, to gain cooperation from others through tact, courtesy and diplomacy.
6. Ability to access or locate information through the use or a personal computer and software programs.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
