You will serve as a SECURITY SPECIALIST in the OPERATIONS DEPARTMENT of STRATEGIC COMMUNICATIONS WING ONE.
Duties
You will investigate, analyze, and resolve a variety of unusual security challenges, questions or conditions associated with the security area.
You will provide information to staff and personnel on information and industrial security policies related to matters and the impact of security requirements on organizational missions.
You will formulate and recommend personnel security investigative requirements.
You will advise on procedures for adverse security determination and employee rights.
You will develop and implement policies, directives, and instructions regarding industrial information and security issues.
You will schedule annual inspections for compliance with established policies and procedures for Echelon commands and support detachments.
You will be responsible for all personnel security programs.
Requirements

- Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
- Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver?s license.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
- This position may require occasional lifting of boxes of 50lbs.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-09) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: analyzing security plans and procedures for a security program (such as Personnel, Information, or Industrial) to include reviewing security policies and assessing compliance in order to mitigate risk and vulnerabilities.

Education
Education may be substituted for specialized experience for the GS-11 as follows:
Completion of Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree (such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work).
OR
3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree (such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work).
OR
LL.M., if related (such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work).
