Duties

Responsible for working directly with the Marine Corps Logistics Base (MCLB), Barstow Safety Office in oversight of the Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) safety program on MCLB Barstow.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Asbestos and Lead, Automatic External Defibrillators (AED), Blood Borne Pathogens, Confined Space, Electrical Safety, Environmental Security, Ergonomics, Fall Protection, Fire Safety, Machine/Equipment Handling, Hazardous Materials, Hearing Conservation, Industrial Hygiene, Lock Out/Tag Out, Occupational Health and Safety, Respiratory Protection, and the Voluntary Protection Program. Assists Safety Officer with various projects.

Qualifications

A combination of one year administrative experience and two years' experience that demonstrates knowledge of classification storage and disposal of hazardous material, knowledge of integrity inspections on equipment and property, general safety policies and administrative skills. Must be familiar with Occupational Safety and Health Administration and Environmental Protection Act regulations. Strong attention to detail and accuracy, good oral and writing skills. Must be willing to perform minor travel for necessary trainings. Possess excellent customer service skills and knowledge of general clerical methods and techniques, including skills to prepare documentation and presentations in a proper format in accordance with naval correspondence.Ability to operate a personal computer and use various software systems to create and generate reports. Must be proficient in ESAMS or become proficient within one year. Must possess and maintain a valid California driver’s license.Work requires standing, walking, bending, and lifting and may be required to work in extreme environmental conditions. This is a mixed position where the incumbent must be able to lift and carry objects up to 55 lbs independently and objects over 55 lbs with assistance.
