You will serve as a LOGISTICS MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST (HULL, MECHANICAL, AND ELECTRICAL ASSESSMENT) in the OFFICE OF MATERIAL READINESS of COMMINEDIV TWELVE.

Duties

You will serve as a principal Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) advisor for the assessments and certifications. You will provide evaluation of equipment health and reliability calculation results for systems monitored by the machinery reliability management system. You will ensure that the conditions of LCS ships are documented properly. You will inspect systems, subsystems, and zones based upon specific target attributes. You will provide recommendations for material planning and assessments for LCS class ships. You will represent the Maintenance Officer at meetings and conferences dealing with assessment, standardization, modernization, and technical issues affecting Class Configuration and Life Cycle Management. You will maintain awareness of all casualty reports and identify how they affect ship performance and future risk to mission accomplishment.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You may be required to work in confined spaces.
  • You may be required to climb ladders and scaffolding.
  • You may be required to work onboard ships.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-09) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: managing the logistics of a Hull, Mechanical, and Electrical (HM&E) shipboard assessment program in order to facilitate and recommend improvements for ship maintenance and modernization. Education

Education may be substituted for the GS-11 as follows:

Successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree.

Successfully completed three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree.
