About the Position: This position will lead process improvement studies, develop, and carry out plans for the utilization of ammunition production, renovation, and demilitarization facilities.
Duties
Develop process control plans and procedures for ammunition load, assemble and pack maintenance, renovation, and demilitarization operations.
Provide technical advice on facilities, machinery, methods, materials, and standards for ammunition production operations.
Plan all aspects of the project including equipment facilities and processes.
Analyze processes for all ammunition production and maintenance line operations.
Lead process improvement studies on production, renovation, and demilitarization lines
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position meets the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. Detection of the presence of drugs is warranted. This position is subject to a pre-employment screening and random testing.
- This position is a Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as Lautenberg Amendment. This act bans individuals convicted of misdemeanor domestic violence and certain others from possession or access to firearms or ammunition.
- This position requires you to be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- This position requires travel to CONUS and OCONUS locations approximated 25% of the time.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. GS-11 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes;
Experience applying a practical knowledge of the methods, materials, machinery, and facilities used in industrial production operations;
Experience planning industrial facilities and layout;
Experience with comprehensive survey and analysis of industrial operations; and
Experience interpreting and applying technical information and government regulations.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Applied Sciences, Business Administration, Engineering, or Industrial Management .
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
Physical Demands: Work is performed in both an office setting and in a production environment. Duties regularly require extended periods of walking, standing or bending while observing manufacturing operations or examining material and processes.
Work Environment: In addition to work performed in the office; visits to production areas require the use of appropriate protective clothing to include safety glasses and shoes and hearing protection. Incumbent must observe all applicable safety regulations-both industrial and explosive. Incumbent will be exposed to a variety of hazardous materials both chemical and explosive.
