Per 5 CFR 335.103(c)(3)(v), this is a non-competitive reassignment opportunity open to those qualified who hold (or have held) a position equivalent to (or higher than) an ND-4 (GS-12 and GS-13 equivalency) on a permanent basis in the competitive service. You will serve as a SCIENTIST in the ADVANCED AEA TECHNOLOGIES BRANCH of the the AIRBORNE ELECTRONIC ATTACK SYSTEMS DIVISION in the SPECTRUM WARFARE SYSTEMS DEPARTMENT of NAVAL SURFACE WARFARE CENTER.

Duties

You will support Digital Mission Engineering efforts focused on Modeling and Simulation, data analysis, and visual analytics. You will provide Mission Engineering analysis, Modeling and Simulation data analysis, and Model Based System Engineering for (MBSE) support for AEA EW systems, platforms, and environments. You will support the development of EMSO models, simulation and algorithms as well as perform static and real time data analytics.

  • This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Acquisition Functional Area and category assigned to the position is required within established category timeframes.

Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower pay band ND-03 (GS-9/11 equivalency) in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional mathematician conducting mission engineering analysis including developing models, simulations and algorithms in support electronic warfare systems projects. Education

Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess:

Successful completion of a bachelor's degree in mathematics or the equivalent of a major that included at least 24 semester hours in mathematics;

OR

Successful completion of a combination of education and experience demonstrated by courses equivalent to a major in mathematics (including at least 24 semester hours in mathematics, plus appropriate experience or additional education. Your total coursework must have included differential and integral calculus and, in addition, four advanced mathematics courses requiring calculus or equivalent mathematics courses as a prerequisite.
