This position serves as Supply Technician (NX) for the Property Management Division within Lifecycle Management of the Supply Chain Management Service in a Veteran Affairs Health Care System (VA HCS) and supported catchment area. As a Supply Technician, you will provide service lines and other hospital facilities with equipment and material.

Applicants must meet one of the following to be qualified for this position:
Specialized Experience: Applicants must have one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-4 level in the Federal service that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of this Supply Technician (Medical) position. Specialized experience is defined as providing equipment and material to clinical and administrative areas of a health care facility; scanning, bar-coding, receiving, storing and distributing equipment and related material; utilizing an automated system to maintain equipment records; and answering customer questions regarding non-expandable equipment and materials. NOTE: Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.

Substitution of Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have successfully completed 4 years above high school in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. This education was obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
OR,
Combination of Specialized Experience and Education: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have a combination of specialized experience and education beyond high school education as described above that demonstrates my ability to perform the duties of this position. For the GS-05, only education in excess of 60 semester hours (2 years) is creditable.

Physical Requirements: The work requires standing and walking during the entire workday, and frequent reaching, bending and lifting of supply packages (occasionally weighing as much as 50 pounds). With proper assistance, moves heavier items weighing over 40 pounds. This level of physical demands occurs, for example, when employees are regularly assigned to activities such as tracing misplaced items or conducting physical inventories in warehouses, and other storage areas, or when they are regularly involved in stocking and retrieving items from shelves and cabinets.
