This position is within Department of Defense (DoD), Office of Inspector General (OIG), Mission Support Team (MST), Chief of Staff and is located in Alexandria, VA. The incumbent assists the Administrative Officer Team Leader with performing management advisory services related to manpower, workforce planning, human resources, resources management, equipment management, space utilization, travel, security, budget, purchases, records management, and automated systems.
Duties
Responsible for providing various administrative support services, and conducting evaluations of existing operations for effectiveness and efficiency.
Analyzes and interprets information concerning administrative programs or issues, makes recommendations for program changes or improvements, and presents options to the MST leadership and Directors at staff meetings.
Responsible for providing management with advice and assistance in making budgetary decisions related to travel, training, awards and procurements.
Develops the Component?s budget for submission to the Financial Management Office.
Coordinate internal controls over various administrative processes to ensure compliance with DoD and MST-Front Office policies and procedures.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Position has been designated as Non-critical Sensitive. Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service (see http://www.sss.gov) .
- Incumbent is required to submit to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment and is subject to random drug testing for the duration of service with DoD OIG.
- Current DoD civilian employees are not required to submit to drug testing if moving from one Testing Designated Position (TDP) to another with no break in service, unless deemed appropriate on a case-by-case basis.
- The incumbent must adhere to the DoD Standards of Conduct.
Qualifications
Time in grade:
You must have at least 52 weeks of specialized experience at the GS-11 level or equivalent or higher grade in the Federal service.
Specialized experience is defined as: The ability to interact with senior leadership and provide recommendations in the decision making process; utilize administrative policies to provide technical support to the front office and other Directorate personnel; apply technical procedures relating to budget, training, travel, property management and supply procurement; review and edit correspondence, documents and reports to ensure accuracy of grammar and format and compliance with relevant policies for written products; analyze and verify data and produce reports on budget execution, training, travel, time and attendance, and other administrative areas; proficiency in MS Office software; electronic travel applications, budget and timesheet applications along with the agency's budget, finance, and accounting operations systems.

Paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual, community, student, social) is qualifying. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience.
Qualification and time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement. Applicants who have held a non-temporary General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must meet the time-in-grade restriction.
Education
There is no substitution of education for the qualifying experienceat this grade level or higher.
