About the Position: This position supports the Patient Administration Department at Earle Naval Health Clinic, Colts Neck, NJ. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Duties

Assist in patient reception and with answering telephones. Review, organize, and prepare charts and records for the healthcare provider. Assists in developing, organizing, and conducting medical surveillance programs, OSHA mandated programs, and health education programs for civilian and military personnel. Perform a wide variety of administrative, clerical, recordkeeping, and/or other medical support functions for the department. Perform routine medical equipment and instrument maintenance and quality control checks. Perform venipuncture and ensure the proper labeling of collected specimens. Conduct tests, screenings, and/or examinations such as audiograms, EKG's/ECG's, pulmonary function testing, vital signs, and/or vision screening. Perform initial review of medical histories and/or Periodic Health Assessments to evaluate the patient's medical readiness and needs.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Tier 1 security investigation or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • This position requires the incumbent to have tuberculosis testing.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
  • This position requires that you obtain and maintain a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Specialized Experience: One year specialized experience which includes assisting with reception and/or clerical duties in a Medical Treatment Facility; assisting with maintaining and/or updating medical records; and assisting with tests, screenings, and/or examinations such as audiograms, pulmonary function testing, and vision screenings. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04). OR Education: Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree, with major study or at least 24 semester hours in subjects directly related to the position. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts). OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
