You will serve as a Hazardous Waste Disposer in the Hazardous Material and Waste Control Unit, Environmental Program Office of FLEET READINESS CENTER SOUTHWEST. This announcement uses the Certain Personnel of the DoD direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Duties

You will provide pick-up and pre-inspection of hazardous and industrial waste upon request from the production or maintenance shops. You will deliver and mix into process solutions, chemicals and other hazardous substances for the production or maintenance shops upon request. You will transport and deliver industrial and bulk wastes to the industrial waste treatment plant. You will package, repack, consolidate, or in special situations, treats/reclaims hazardous substances or wastes utilizing approved methods.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.

Qualifications

The Screen-out Element for this position is: 1) Collecting, packaging, and storing hazardous waste in compliance with regulations and safety procedures; 2) Labeling common hazardous wastes in accordance with established regulations; 3) Operating equipment such as forklifts, tow tractors, or motor vehicles to load, transport, and store hazardous wastes; and 4) Visually examining storage containers for proper labeling and defects.
