The employee will serve as the Civilian Pay Technician at the Overton Brooks VA Medical Center, in Shreveport, LA. The primary purpose of the position is to execute actions related to the processing of a wide variety of payroll transactions.
Duties

Duties include, but may not be limited to the following:
Review time and attendance actions and utilize databases/system to ensure positions are paid accurately and on time.
Work with appropriate personnel to coordinate and download updates to computer programs for the civilian payroll system and initiate batch processing procedures of payroll input.
Prepare special reports required for management control, payroll reconciliation, budget or accounting purposes.
Provide customer service in person, through the computer or by telephone and complete correspondence related to position pay.
Research and coordinate with different departments to solve complex problems and provide information.
Provide instructions to resource advisors with payroll problems/issues.
Audit pay and leave accounts to identify and correct delinquent and/or erroneous personnel actions or time-keeping errors.
Certify all disbursement and collection vouchers involving civilian pay funds.
Perform other duties as required.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm

Qualifications
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience that equipped them with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position, and that is typically in or related to the work of this position. To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-5 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience includes: reviewing time and attendance actions; inputting leave and pay adjustment information; ensuring that time and attendance is correct and pay is correct; handling complex pay adjustments; training timekeepers; preparing payroll reports and accruals; and responding to written and verbal inquiries from employees and supervisors concerning all aspects of pay and leave.

IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities.
