This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Office of the Chief Human Capital Officer (OCHCO), Human Capital Business Solutions (HCBS).
The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a first level supervisor over employees in the organization and serve as a Senior Applications Software Specialist for the branch.
Non-BU: This is a non-bargaining unit position.
Duties
As a Supervisory IT Specialist (APPSW), GS-2210-14, your typical work assignments may include:
Planning, organizing, and directing the activities of the organization.
Planning work to be accomplished by employees.
Providing expert technical advice, guidance and recommendations to management and other technical specialists on critical IT issues.
Leading teams that design and develop applications.

Requirements

Qualifications
Basic Requirement:
Individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below:
1) Attention to Detail - Is though when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
2) Customer service - Works with clients and customers (this is, any individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; and is committed to providing quality products and services.
3) Oral Communication- Expresses information to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information; makes clear and convincing oral presentations.
4) Problem Solving - Identifies problems, determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgement to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

Specialized Experience:
You qualify for the GS-14 grade level if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the federal government, performing duties such as:
participating in multifunctional projects.
implementing new systems or major enhancement to existing systems.
resolving critical issues affecting the configuration of an IT infrastructure.
coordinating the demonstration of new and enhanced applications to customers and management.
overseeing an agency or equivalent level IT program or function.

Substitution of education in lieu of specialized experience may not be used for this grade level.

Time-in-grade: Current General Schedule (GS) federal employees, and those that have served in GS positions within the last 52 weeks, must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade, or a combination of the next lower grade level and an equivalent band in the federal service by the closing of this announcement.
