The position of Security Guard is located at the Crow IHS Service Unit, Crow Agency, MT. This position reports to the Supervisory Security Guard or designee. This position is being re-advertised to solicit additional applicants. Applicants who previously applied need not to, unless updating and/or submitting missing information.

Duties

Security - Patrol buildings and grounds to prevent property, patients, employees and visitors for the threat of danger of accidental injuries, fire, theft, or intrusion. Enforcement - Apprehend and take appropriate actions for the detention, removal or dispersion of individuals involved in infractions. Escort upon request escort personnel, patients or visitors to and from parking areas, restricting disturbing of rambunctious patients in necessary inpatient area and/or emergency area, or whatever necessary. Motor Pool Patrol - Monitor GSA vehicles, monitor traffic flow. Incident Reporting - Maintain computer log of daily activities.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. For positions requiring positive education requirements, or if you are using education to meet all or part of the qualification requirements, you MUST submit a copy of your transcripts or an itemized list of college courses which includes equivalent information from the transcript (course title, semester/quarter hours, and grade/degree earned) in your resume. NOTE: Competition for Security Guard is restricted by Law to persons entitled to Veteran's Preference as long as such applicants are available for appointment. FOR APPLICANTS APPLYING UNDER THE PROVISION OF THE EXCEPTED SERVICE EXAMINING PLAN, CONSIDERATION FOR THIS POSITION IS LIMITED TO APPLICANTS ENTITLED TO VETERANS PREFERENCE. IF THERE ARE LESS THAN THREE VETERANS AVAILABLE, NON-PREFERENCE ELIGIBLES MAY BE CONSIDERED. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): GS-04: Six months of General Experience and Six months of Specialized Experience. General Experience: Experience such as administrative, technical, clerical, military, or other work that involved following written procedures, rule, or regulation in contacts with coworkers, supervisor, or members of the public to provide a service, respond to inquiries or obtain information. Specialized Experience: Experience such as work with a Federal, State, municipal, local or private protective organization that involved the protection of property against such hazards as fire, theft, damage, accident, or trespass or maintaining order and protecting life. Such experience must have provided a knowledge of protective systems and techniques. Acceptable experience includes service in the Armed Services or Coast Guard that involved the performance of guard duties on a regular or intermittent basis. Experience as a psychiatric nursing assistant or a similar position safeguarding patients is qualifying. SUBSTITUTING EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: Successfully completed 2 years above high school and completed study at an accredited college or university in any subject is fully qualifying -OR- Successful completion of training in an accredited technical school that covered subjects such as physical security procedures, local laws, or investigative techniques is considered qualifying for specialized experience at the GS-04. Investigation of Fitness: A character investigation may be conducted on applicants selected for employment. The purpose of such an investigation is to secure evidence of the candidate's honesty, integrity, general character, and loyalty to the U.S. Government. Such investigations will be conducted under the security requirements of the hiring agency. Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).

Education

When there is a positive education requirement, or you are using education to qualify as a substitution for experience, transcripts (unofficial) are required at the time of application to verify that you meet the educational requirement or substitution. Successfully completed study at an accredited college or university in any subject is fully qualifying in the amount of 2 years above high school.

Training: Successful completion of training in an accredited technical school that covered subjects such as physical security procedures, local laws, or investigative techniques is considered qualifying for specialized experience at the GS-4 level on a month-for-month basis.
