Incumbent primarily prepares surfaces to be painted or covered with wall covering by scraping, burning, sanding (by hand or machine), sand blasting or applying paint remover. This may include some areas that are covered with lead-based paint. Prepares surfaces by such methods as filling, shaping and leveling with metal and synthetic resins. Mixes and applies such pre-coating agents as pickling and alkali compounds.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
Your background must demonstrate experience and knowledge of any of the accepted surface preparation and coating methods and techniques. Skill in matching, tinting, toning, and blending coating materials and in combining agents with coating materials. Knowledge of how to build up, shape and level surfaces, with metal and synthetic resins, plastics, and patching compounds, obtain finely smoothed surfaces with abrasive compounds, pumice, and rottenstone, even out dents and scars, by burning-in processes and treat surfaces with pre-coating agents. Ability to read and apply directions that relate to the mixture, use and application of various kinds of materials. Skill in the use of tools and equipment such as brushes, rollers, spray guns, trowels, screeds, straight edges, viscosity testers, graining devices, and wet and other thickness gauges.

Evidence which demonstrates you possess the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of this position must be supported by detailed descriptions of such on your resume.
