This position is located in the VISN 6 Geriatric Research, Education and Clinical Center (GRECC) located at the Durham VA Health Care System (DVAHCS). The incumbent provides research statistical services in support of GRECC and Geriatric and Extended Care (GEC) objectives to facilitate, initiate, and conduct human subjects research, education research, and clinical demonstration projects designed to integrate research-proven findings into clinical practice.

Duties

Duties include but not limited to: Providing assistance with or independently completes statistical analyses of data from GRECC research or clinical demonstration projects that have been approved by the appropriate VA oversight committees. Performs analysis using SPSS statistical package, R Project for statistical computing, SAS analytical software, and other statistical software available. Provide the statistical input required in the design, conduct and analysis of major scientific research studies. Prepare reports that summarize the analysis of research data, interpret the findings and provide conclusions and recommendations. Collaborate with investigators on presentations, posters, abstracts, and publications. This involves data analysis, conceptual design of the product(poster, presentation, or publication), writing of the statistical analysis section, and critical review of the manuscripts. Develop appropriate methods for data collection (eg, survey forms, administrative data source queries, etc.),management and storage per current VA standards. All statistical services will be gerontology related. Work Schedule: 7:30am - 4:00pm, Monday through Friday Telework: VA supports the use of telework as a way to help attract and retain talented individuals in public service, increase worker productivity, and better prepare the agency to operate during emergencies. This work provides research statistical support for research that involves developing, testing, implementing, and disseminating interventions that improve care for older Veterans who may suffer from a wide variety of health-related problems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
