Duties

Instructs students through assigned blocks of instruction of supplemental and advanced technical levels of electrical aircraft and environmental systems courses. Researches, develops, revises and updates electrical aircraft and environmental systems course materials in accordance with established learning objectives. Plans, develops, executes, and evaluates a comprehensive and effective training program. Maintains professional and technical proficiency and accomplishes difficult, but well precedented special projects related to specialty area, to include staff surveillance visits to various training activities.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions GS-1712, series Plus IOR. BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT: ** This is a CCAF Position** For Community College of the Air Force GS-1712 positions only: Section 9315 of 10 USC directs the commander of the Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) to comply with standards established by the Secretary of Education to confer associate degrees upon enlisted members who have completed the requirements for the prescribed programs of study. To comply with this directive, all faculty members of the Community College of the Air Force must meet minimum educational requirements as prescribed by the accrediting body Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, Commission on Colleges (SACS-COC), i.e. accreditation criteria. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes: Knowledge of the training procedures and methods as related to course and curriculum development. Knowledge of the methods, principles, practices, and programs related to curriculum development, instructional techniques, training resources, and test and measurement. Knowledge of DoD, AF, and major command directives, concepts, procedures, guidance, and policy as they relate to the area of responsibility. Knowledge of service-based occupations and the associated training/certification requirements for military and civilian personnel. Knowledge of standard analytical and evaluative techniques to analyze training requirements, plan for and develop training materials, evaluate training effectiveness, and solve problems relating to training issues. Knowledge of various office automation software programs, tools, and techniques to support training operations and produce a variety of documents such as letters, reports, spreadsheets, databases, and graphs. OR EDUCATION: Successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree OR 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree OR LL. B or J.D., if related, with a major study in education or a subject area related to the position to be filled. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-07 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of a wide range of the principles and practical methods, techniques, and tools of electrical systems and environmental aircraft maintenance to teach a variety of students with a range of differences such as diverse ages, backgrounds, and levels of interest. 2. Knowledge of the principles, practices, and instructional methods and design at the practical level to maintain subject matter experience. 3. Knowledge of course development, validation, and implementation to include tests and measurement principles, techniques, and objectives. 4. Skill in developing course materials and presenting formal and informal courses and briefings. 5. Ability to gather, develop, and analyze a variety of data and to make recommendations based on analysis. 6. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
