Duties

You will prepare statements of work or other binding specifications or acquisition performance standard. You will identify unforeseen outside influences or physical or environmental obstructions, and products, labor, or materials availability. You will perform data systems and analysis work. You will assist in conducting conventional studies or applications of limited scope and with readily definable objectives that require only minor modifications of precedents. You will investigate and document specific computer science phenomena or problems, or segments in a structure of related investigations, under the guidance of a higher-grade computer scientist. You will monitor contractor activities in the day-to-day performance of the contract for computer science projects or programs.

  • This position is designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position. You must obtain and maintain the credentials as described in SECNAV M-5239.2 for specialty area IT/PROGRAM MANAGER level INTERMEDIATE within 12 months of appointment.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This is a TERM position.

Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: developing new approaches that guide other scientists and engineers who solve a variety of technical problems; applying new, innovative, or experimental computer science theories, developments, or practice system design, and of broad areas of computing applications; and, applying concepts and principles of computer science to resolve novel or obscure problems. Basic Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in computer science or bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions.

Evaluation of Education:

Applicants should have sufficient knowledge to understand the fundamental concepts and techniques of computer science. Courses designed to provide an introduction to computer science techniques and methodologies, to problems of system design, and to other specialized fields are acceptable. Courses or experience in teaching elementary, business, or shop mathematics are not acceptable.
