The primary purpose of this position is to service, clean, make additions and operate parts washers, cleaning booths, nick and burr booths, paint booths, blasting equipment, chemical tanks and other industrial processes requiring special handling requirements with chemicals, blasting media, or production residue.
Duties
1. Use Utility System inspection techniques to determine the acceptability and serviceability of all plant and support equipment.
2. operate, test and regenerate deionized water units.
3. Drain, clean, flush and refill process tanks/equipment.
4. Responsible for maintenance and operation of the control logic overhead conveyer system.
5. Troubleshoot and isolate problems to unit level in computer input terminal.

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C.
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-5400 Industrial Equipment Operation Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.
The screen out element for this position is the ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision.
JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc.
2. Operation of shop equipment, machinery, etc.
3. Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic)
4. Use of Measuring Instruments
5. Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (other than blueprint reading)
6. Dexterity and Safety
PHYSICAL EFFORT: Requires lifting of parts and supplies weighing 25 pounds and over with assistance.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Work area can be hot and humid. Danger to skin and eyes from splashing chemicals exists. Danger of injury to internal organs from breathing corrosive, noxious fumes. Protection from these chemicals and vapors may require worker to wear safety equipment such as rubber gloves, aprons, goggles, or respirators. Hearing protection is required to be worn at all times in working area since there is constant loud noise from pumping and air circulating equipment.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
