As the Flight Operations Directorate (FOD) Artemis Rendezvous, Proximity Operations, and Docking (RPOD) Integration Lead responsible for integration of all Artemis RPOD operational matters across the Space Launch System (SLS), Orion, Gateway, and Human Landing System (HLS) programs, you will ensure safe and successful Artemis mission integration in support of the design, development, and execution of the RPOD aspects for all Artemis missions.

Duties

Serves as technical integration lead for the Flight Operations Directorate (FOD) for all Artemis RPOD related issues. Leads FOD integration of RPOD operational concepts for Artemis missions. Ensures the FOD strategic plan, mission, vision and values are communicated and integrated into the team's strategies, goals, objectives, and work; communicates to the team milestones. Leads the team by identifying, distributing, and balancing workload. Arranges for team member training, and reports on the status of work. Coaches the team and serves as facilitator in selecting appropriate problem solving methods/techniques. Represents FOD in dealings with the Artemis programs (SLS, Orion, Gateway, and HLS) to obtain resources and secure information for decisions; informs FOD management of issues and design problems, and recommends FOD strategies for RPOD issues. Assists the FOD Assistant Directors in integrating, identifying, and resolving Artemis RPOD issues. Leads the integrated FOD team to develop recommendations that balance multiple program and vehicle requirements to enable a safe and successful RPOD activities for the Artemis missions.

Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Education Requirement (in the Education section below), to qualify for this position you must meet the requirements below and have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade, which has equipped you with the particular competencies needed to successfully perform the duties of the position described above. NASA utilizes OPM-approved qualification and rating requirements specific for Aerospace Technology (AST) positions which recognizes NASA's unique aerospace work. The specific qualifications and minimum education requirements are further described below and within the education section of the job announcement. To qualify for GS-14, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level: Leading and/or integrating the operational concepts for spacecraft systems (hardware and/or software), and/or integration for the Exploration programs; Leading and/or participating on a team responsible for human spaceflight real-time operations, systems, trajectory, training, and integration, including operational products and mission objectives, mission control center operations and disciplines, and operational techniques; and Leading and/or participating in problem solving and decision-making processes used in flight operations to ensure space vehicle and crew safety and mission objectives are met. Education

Basic Education Requirement: You must have successfully completed a bachelor's degree with a major in one of the following:
a) Engineering from a college or university that has ABET accredited engineering programs
b) Physical Science, Mathematics, Life Science or other field of Science
c) Computer Science that included 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours of course work in any combination of mathematics, statistics and computer science with at least half of those hours in mathematics and statistics courses that included differential and integral calculus.

If you did not complete a qualifying bachelor's degree, you may be eligible if you have obtained a graduate degree in an AST qualifying field, as listed above.

Degrees in engineering technology are not considered qualifying for this position.
