You will serve as an Engineering Technician in the Commanding Officer Facility & Infrastructure Management Department of FLEET READINESS CENTER SOUTHWEST. This announcement uses the Direct Hire Authority for Certain Personnel of the Department of Defense to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to certain positions in the competitive service.

Duties

You will develop and submit complex equipment acquisition documentation. You will provide a complete and accurate response to internal and external data calls. You will define Automatic Data Processing requirements affecting the daily mission and the execution of functions in the IOMD and interface with the Information Technology/ Information Management Office to resolve ADP issues. You will develop a Facility Acquisition Strategy to address shortfalls and a Facility Disposition / Rehabilitation Strategy to address excess or obsolete facilities.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Performing facility management functions relating to Facilities Requirements, Facility Acquisition and Disposition, Shore Based Maintenance of Real Property Management, and Shore Station Management; 2) Managing complex plant equipment by identifying and analyzing customer requirements and acquiring, modifying, and disposing of facility equipment, non-Automatic Data Processing machine controls, and labor-saving office equipment; 3) Coordinating project designs with customers and upper management; and 4) Reviewing Architectural and Engineering (A/E) designs. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social).
