Job opening: Utility Systems Repairer-Operator Supervisor

You will serve as a first-line supervisor within the Utilities Branch of the Facilities Management Division at Death Valley National Park.

Duties
Some of the duties you will perform, include, but are not limited to:
Compliance testing and monitoring of the 8 total water systems including 3 public water systems, 5 transient water systems, 2 wastewater lagoon systems and several septic systems.
Daily supervision of a crew of up to 6 Utility Systems Repairer-Operators (USROs) and up to 5 maintenance workers.
Asset management and condition assessments.
Assist with the planning of projects for improvements of utilities systems and planning short- and long-term budget needs.
Emergency repairs to critical utility systems.
Contracting Officer Representative (COR) duties for contracted projects
Perform the full range of supervisory duties including, but not limited to position management, work scheduling, training, and evaluating performance.

Physical Demands: Regularly lifts, carries, and handles items weighing up to 50 pounds. Uses mechanical equipment to handle heavy items (over 50 pounds). Works in uncomfortable positions for extended periods. There is frequent standing. walking, bending. Climbing, reaching, and stooping. Extreme effort is occasionally required in the operation of large hand tools. Drives government vehicle on steep, narrow, and winding mountain roads in all weather and road conditions.
Working Conditions: Works with hazardous substances, including acids, caustics, chlorine, and flammables such as propane, solvents, gasoline, fuel oil, and disease-causing organisms found in water and wastewater. Is exposed to moving machinery, electrical hazards, oxygen deficient atmospheres, confined spaces, dust, fumes, and slippery environments. Must practice personal hygiene to avoid disease and be proficient in the use of many types of safety equipment to avoid injury or death. Employs "buddy system" techniques when working in hazardous conditions. May be exposed to the possibility of bums, scrapes and infection. May be required to work in adverse weather conditions in temperatures from 10 to 140 degrees F. at elevations from -291 to 5,000 feet.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, you must possess at least two of the following valid state-issued (any state or territory of the United States) licenses:
D-2 Water Distribution,
T-2 Water Treatment,
WW-1 Wastewater Treatment,
AWWA Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester
NOTE: You must provide copies of your current state-issued licenses as listed above.
In addition, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors:

Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc. (including Knowledge of Materials)
Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic)
Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprinting reading)
Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment (including the Use of Measuring Instruments)
