This position is located in the Office of Secure Transportation, Office of Technical Services (OTS), Safety and Security Division (SSD), Security Branch (SB), and serves as a Security Specialist, ensuring security compliance at multiple geographically dispersed facilities.

As a Security Specialist, you will:
Qualifications
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower NNSA Demonstration Project pay band or GS grade level in the Federal service, i.e., NQ-02 or GS-12.
Specialized Experience:
I have one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent in responsibility and scope to the NQ-02 pay band or GS-12 level in the Federal Service to include: supporting a security program with responsibilities for ensuring program compliance with security directives, implementing security requirements for fixed site facilities, conducting comprehensive studies, and presenting recommendations for program improvements.
Examples of Specialized Experience:
1. Performs extensive coordination and gains the support of other technical experts throughout the Security Branch as well as other OST offices.
2. Provides technical support for organizational compliance with DOE/NNSA Security Orders and OST Security Policies and Procedures.
3. Provides clear guidance on safeguard and security objectives, policies, and procedures, advises on new developments and advances in safeguards and security techniques and recommends methods for enhancing efficiency of security systems through modifications and applications of evolving technology.

Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
CTAP/ICTAP candidates: To be considered "well qualified" you must meet all of the requirements as described in this section. If you are eligible for career transition assistance plans such as ICTAP or CTAP, you must meet the definition of "well qualified" which is defined as having a score of 85 or better.
