You will serve as a Tool and Parts Attendant in the Production Lines Division, MRO of FLEET READINESS CENTER SOUTHWEST. This announcement uses the Certain Personnel of the DoD direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Duties

You will issue tools and supplies to shop workers; select tools or material from stock according to size and description furnished; receive tools and material returned by workers after use. You will maintain tools and work areas in safe and serviceable condition by performing routine housekeeping duties. You will ensure that adequate supplies of tools, equipment and expendable materials are maintained in accordance with established shop requirements; initiate requests for replenishment of tools whenever stock is low. You will rearrange storage locations of tools within the shop given the space requirements and turnover and convenience of hand items.

Qualifications

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. The Screen-out Element for this position is: I have the ability to perform common tasks including: 1) Identifying tools and parts related to aviation by utilizing catalogs and other trade publications; 2) Utilizing a computer-based system to maintain inventory data, in addition to understanding basic inventory management; and 3) Examining tools and materials prior to issuance and upon return for damage or worn conditions. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.
