About the Position: Performs a variety of clerical and administrative duties, prepares correspondence and reports as requested. This position is located with 7th Medical Group, Dyess Air Force Base, Abilene, Texas.

Duties

Perform various clerical and administrative duties in support of the organization, performing office automation duties such as word processing in support of the clerical and administrative work. Maintain supervisors calendar, coordinates meetings arrangements, and schedules meetings and/or conferences. Receive telephone calls, greets visitors, and ascertains the nature of the calls or visits.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position has been designated Mission Essential. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations, the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) assisting with clerical duties such as scheduling meetings/ conferences for leadership; 2) utilizing office automation software to draft correspondences and/or enter and retrieve data; and 3) maintaining automated and paper files for the department. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/ level position in the federal service (GS-04). OR Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. Proficiency Requirement: This position requires a typing proficiency of at least 40 words per minute (WPM) based on a 5 minute sample with 3 or fewer errors Candidates may be advanced without time restriction to positions up to GS-5 if the position to be filled is no more than two grades above the lowest grade the employee held within the preceding 52 weeks under his or her latest non-temporary competitive appointment.
