The purpose of this position is to serve as a Program Support Assistant within the Home Based Primary Care (HBPC) section of the Geriatrics and Extended Care Service. The position reports to the HBPC director and performs various administrative and clerical duties in support of the HBPC program.
Duties
Duties include but are not limited to:
Maintains service chief's daily calendar.
Makes appointments and arranges conferences and meetings without specific prior approval based on knowledge of chief's schedule.
Keeps service chief informed of meetings, appointments, and other commitments, assembles required files and information for meetings.
Timekeeper for the service.
Assures accurate recording and maintenance of information concerning policies, and regulations governing the time and leave system.
Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
Maintains personnel files and position descriptions and advises supervisor of cyclical personnel action requirements.
Performs typing.
Composes all request for PC computer equipment, printers, electronic typewriters and software to provide staff support and to accomplish specific programs and projects.
Knowledge of planning, coordination, and execution of business functions, resource allocation, and production.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 09/01/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-6 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-5. The grade may have been in any occupation but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience GS-6: You must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience that equipped you with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties the Program Support Assistant at the full performance level (GS-6), and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-5) in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience such as receiving and directing telephone calls and greeting visitors. Preparing correspondence, reports, and other documents based on information gathered from program files or other records. Establishing and maintaining program files and records. Knowledge of various office automation software, processing procedures, editing and reformatting electronic drafts, and updating and revising existing databases or spreadsheets; knowledge of standard office equipment, such as computers, copiers, fax machines, and office automation systems to perform a substantial range of office automation support.

Physical Requirements: The work area is usually an adequately lighted, heated and ventilated office of medical facility setting. The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts that require normal safety precautions. The sedentary and may require some walking, standing, bending, carrying and/or lifting of light items like papers or books. The work requires light to moderate levels/times performing keyboarding to prepare correspondence.
