Employee serves as a specialist for implementation of the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and Privacy Act (PA) programs. The incumbent exercises delegated authority from the Commanding General, HRC, to prioritize actions and make release determinations to grant or deny official requests for information under the provisions of Title 5, US Code, Sections 552 and 552a.

Duties

Provides technical supervision over subordinate staff in order to achieve FOIA goals and high-quality work products. Analyzes requests to determine the nature of information requested and proper source of that information. Accomplishes detailed research, analysis, and evaluation of data for release or denial in response to requests received under the FOIA/PA. Confers with legal counsels and resolves conflicting viewpoints with the appropriate action officers and/or defers to higher officials for guidance.   • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintaiin a Secret security clearance.
