Employee will serve as a Teller - Agent Cashier assigned to Fiscal Service located at the Tennessee Valley Healthcare System in Nashville, TN and Murfreesboro, TN.

Duties

***THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION*** The primary purpose of this position, the employee will have administrative responsibility for all Agent Cashier input to the Finance Center and Treasury reports, reconciliations and all disbursements and receipts of cash instruments, and examines vouchers. Duties will include, but may not be limited to the following: Plans, directs, and provides training to Tellers and Agent Cashiers. Actively participates in interview of Teller applicants and recommends selection. Applies knowledge of banking practices and currency which includes various types of documents (e.g., treasury checks, pension and compensation checks, certified checks, travelers' checks, social security checks, money orders, bond drafts, various charge/debit cards, etc.) Completes third-party insurance collections for inpatient/outpatient healthcare services, determines type of payment (i.e., third party; means test, co-payment, or a combination of several types). Prepares receipts for collections using correct reference numbers of patient accounts and proper accounting information; uses automated systems to post/apply payments, store payment data, reconcile daily deposits of funds, and accommodate pre-payments and refunds. Performs cash disbursing functions as per Treasury Department and other regulations and policies. Makes cash payments to customers and cash replenishments to tellers and agent cashiers. Receives receipts, deposits, and accounts for collections received. Balances and reconciles accounts daily to assure that the disbursing fund and collections are properly accounted for. Assumes personal financial accountability for any monetary loss. Resolves cashiering problems/issues. Performs other duties as necessary. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Requires one full year of specialized experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-5) in the Federal service. Specialized experience includes professional experience applying banking, Treasury, and accounting procedures and policies to disburse cash, handle deposits from various types of checks, prepare payments/reimbursements, and reconcile accounts assuring that disbursing funds and collections are properly accounted for; and using automated computer systems to complete teller/cashiering functions and prepare reports.
