This position is located with the Department of Homeland Security, United States Coast Guard, Force Readiness Command, Training Division, Aviation Training Center Mobile in Mobile, AL.
Duties
This position serves as a Civilian Training Instructor responsible for training and evaluating students, re-qualification and proficiency course pilots, in advanced technical systems and procedures for Coast Guard Rotary Wing Transition through the use of Ground School instruction, Cockpit Procedures Trainer (CPT) instruction, and Simulator instruction.

Qualifications
To Qualify for the GS-11 Grade Level: Applicant must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the federal service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
Examples of specialized experience include:
Teaching subject areas in aircraft component familiarization, checklist protocol, aircraft systems, weight and balance, night vision goggles, aircraft operating limitations, aerodynamics, adverse weather operations, using of performance charts, preflight Inspections, instrument procedures, and normal and emergency procedures.
Evaluating student progress and providing remedial training as necessary.
Instructional proficiency in all simulator-supported models rotary wing aircraft, in addition to being a simulator trainer and mentor for newly assigned instructor pilots.
Maintaining a current pulse of aviation-wide trends and issues, aviation mishap causal and contributory factors, as well as platform-specific dynamics.
Developing simulator scenarios such as route planning, internal and external communications and generating simulation IT support and validating the scenario for realism and the appropriate level of challenge and instruction.
