The National Counterterrorism Center (NCTC) leads the nation's effort to protect the United States from terrorism by integrating, analyzing and sharing information to drive whole-of-government action and achieve our national CT objectives.

Duties

The National Counterterrorism Center's Directorate of Intelligence (NCTC/DI) seeks a motivated intelligence analyst able to operate at the full performance level to join a high-performing team of officers working to combating state-sponsored and other counterterrorism threats. Qualified candidates can anticipate challenging and rewarding responsibilities involving rigorous research, sophisticated analysis, and collaboration to develop unique and insightful analysis that help policymakers make informed national security and foreign policy decisions. In these duties, you will have the opportunity to: Perform in-depth analysis of complex counterterrorism issues for senior policymakers and key components in the Intelligence Community (IC), law enforcement, and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI). Develop and produce a broad range of finished intelligence products in support of United States (US) foreign policy and national security interests. Prepare and present written and oral briefings to senior internal and external customers on significant intelligence issues. Develop an understanding of and utilize a variety of methodological tools and approaches to gain a comprehensive understanding of complex and significant analytic issues and incorporate insights and findings into intelligence products, as applicable. Build and maintain productive working relationships with colleagues, experts, IC members, policy committees, and law enforcement agencies as appropriate and use these relationships to share information of interest and collaborate on intelligence production; attend internal and external training, seminars, or conferences on broad or more strategic subject areas relevant to your work. Develop and continually expand personal knowledge in areas of expertise relevant to your work.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen residing in the United States
  • Appointment is subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance based on an SBI with eligibility for sensitive compartmented information (SCI)
  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
  • A two-year trial period is required for all new permanent appointments to the ODNI.

Qualifications

Mandatory Requirements: A 1-2 page cover letter describing the below requirements: Thorough ability to both lead and independently perform the research, development, and production of high-quality, complex analyses, studies, projects, assignments and briefings on key US foreign policy and national security objectives for IC consumers and policymakers at the highest levels. Interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills, including an ability to work effectively both independently and in a team or collaborative environment; creative problem-solving skills and initiative in carrying out mission responsibilities based on senior-level guidance. Flexibility and ability to remain open-minded and change opinions on the basis of new information and requirements; ability to support group decisions and solicit opinions from coworkers. At least one year of professional experience at a national agency, service component, or combatant command. Desired Requirements: Prior work experience or advanced academic study on counterterrorism issues, Hizballah, Iran, and Iraqi Shia militant groups.
