Duties

Plans, directs, manages, and controls all Army Special Operations Aviation (ARSOA) aircraft. Serve as a Flight Test Pilot for the Systems Integration Management Office (SIMO). Operates and tests Common Avionics Architecture System (CAAS), Integrated Avionics systems (IAS), and Communications/ Navigation System (ComNav) equipped aircraft.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top Secret Security/SCI Clearance.
  • This position will require incumbent to take pre-employment DoD Class II flight physical and annual thereafter.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter.
  • This position requires incumbent to be qualifies in a MH-Series aircraft software and technical systems.
  • This position requires incumbent to have a total time of 1500 hours on rotary wing aircraft AND a minimum of 15 years experience with military rotary wing aircraft.
  • This position requires a Minimum of 5 years' experience with current MH aircraft or aircraft related technical systems.
  • This position requires a minimum or 5 years' experience in development of aircraft systems design, systems applications, developmental and acceptance test including fielding and sustainment.
  • This position requires a minimum of 1150 hours as Pilot in Command (PIC).
  • This position requires a minimum of 100 hours Night Vision Goggle.
  • This position requires a minimum of 4 years' experience operating CASS architecture as an active pilot.

Minimum Flight Hour Requirements: The following flight hour requirements apply to all applicants: Total Flight Time -- 1750 Pilot-In-Command -- 1150 Night Flying -- 75 Flying Time, Last 12 Months -- 100 flight hours Multi-engine Aircraft-- 500 Heavy Helicopter--500 Instrument-- 75 Instructor Time-- 500 Medical Requirements At the time of initial appointment, candidates for all pilot positions must possess a current first or second-class medical certificate in accordance with FAA regulations; both meet the intent of the requirement. NOTE: You must submit documentation to provide proof of certification. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes advanced glass cockpit developmental and acceptance test pilot responsible for operating and testing Common Avionics Architecture System (CAAS), Integrated Avionics systems (IAS), and Communications/ Navigation System (ComNav) equipped aircraft. Experience operating and testing systems, subsystems, components, aircraft variants, and ARSOA aircraft simulator(s). This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Aviation OperationsFlight SystemsTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
