You will serve as a Painter Supervisor I in the Preservation Shop (Code 970), Production Resources Department manager (Code 901), Production Resources Department (Code 900) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties

You will be the first line Painter Supervisor charged with exercising supervision over subordinate workers in accomplishing painter trade work. y You will be responsible for the quantity and quality of the work performed by subordinates. You will apply thorough, expert knowledge of the methods, techniques, procedures, tools, materials, and practices of the painter trade. You will implement high performance organization through training and understanding and deployment of the shipyard Strategic Plan. You will plan the use of workers, equipment, facilities, materials and tools provided through the (AIM) process for assigned units of work. You will establish deadlines, priorities, and work sequences. You will analyze work plans developed by work leaders and journeymen, and conduct planning reviews to support codes where needed. You will effectively plan for the movement of people to work.

  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
