This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.

Duties

The Central Texas Veterans Health Care System is currently recruiting for one full-time Primary Care Staff Physicians for the Clinical Resource Hub. The is a Telehealth position, the Physician is required to provide in-person patient care service 1 week each quarter. This vacancy will remain open until filled. Applications will be reviewed regularly and at the request of management. The VISN Clinical Resource Hub (CRH) Primary Care Physician position is a VISN based position located in Central Texas (VISN 17). The position is under the general supervision of the CRH Primary Care Clinical Director. A Clinical Resource Hub (CRH) is a repository of clinical and administrative staff that serve Veterans Affairs facilities within a Veterans Integrated System Network (VISN). Staff within the CRH are expected to provide inter-professional services to VISN facilities that are underserved or experiencing gaps in clinicians due to the inability to match provider supply with demand. Services provided by CRH staff are conducted via multiple modalities, including virtual and in-person care. You must have access to high speed broadband home Internet connection. The CRH Mobile Deployment Team (MDT) provides care through virtual, in-person, and Mobile Medical Units and are a Mission Act 402 requirement. In person deployments of clinical staff for short-term assignments will be at the discretion of the VISN CRH (PC Section Chief) and will depend upon clinical need and available resources. Primary duties are to provide primary care services to a panel of patients at one of the VISN facilities through a combination of virtually and in-person as part of an interprofessional primary care team in the VHA Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) model. You will work as part of a virtual and in-person primary care team, together with patient site care team members, to provide primary care to Veterans. Clinical Video Telehealth (CVT) is the primary modality for treatment, though this position may require occasional travel to VISN medical centers or Community Based Outreach Clinics (CBOC). Provide direct patient care full time and work as a member of an expanded healthcare team (social worker, dietician, clinical pharmacists, behavioral health clinician, and a care manager) to oversee and coordinate medical care for a population of Veterans in a group practice setting utilizing the PACT model. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements as well as any additional requirements (if applicable) listed in the job announcement. Currently employed physician(s) in VA who met the requirements for appointment under the previous qualification standard at the time of their initial appointment are deemed to have met the basic requirements of the occupation. Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Education: Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Licensure and Registration: Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. Residency Training: Physicians must have completed residency training, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification. (NOTE: VA physicians involved in academic training programs may be required to be board certified for faculty status.) Approved residencies are: 1. Those approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), b) OR 2. Those approved by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), OR 3. Other residencies (non-US residency training programs followed by a minimum of five years of verified practice in the United States), which the local Medical Staff Executive Committee deems to have provided the applicant with appropriate professional training and believes has exposed the physician to an appropriate range of patient care experiences. Residents currently enrolled in ACGME/AOA accredited residency training programs and who would otherwise meet the basic requirements for appointment are eligible to be appointed as "Physician Resident Providers" (PRPs). PRPs must be fully licensed physicians (i.e., not a training license) and may only be appointed on an intermittent or fee-basis. PRPs are not considered independent practitioners and will not be privileged; rather, they are to have a "scope of practice" that allows them to perform certain restricted duties under supervision. Additionally, surgery residents in gap years may also be appointed as PRPs. English Language Proficiency: Proficiency in spoken and written English. Preferred Experience: Minimum of 5 years attending-level experience providing comprehensive care to patients such as services in the diagnosis, care, and treatment of assigned/unassigned patients with acute care needs. Experience providing effective medical treatment, consultation, and diagnosis upon request from other Services/Departments. Experience in women's health care duties to include assessment and treatment of patients, including pelvic examinations, pap smears and other related gender-specific healthcare of women, reviews diagnostic studies and reports abnormal findings. Experience ordering appropriate tests and incorporate results for treatment plan. As well as initiating or expediting requests for consults, special tests, or studies. Board certified or eligible in Internal medicine or family medicine with outpatient primary care practice experience. One year minimum Telehealth Virtual Modality experience. Education

1. Schools of medicine accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) for the year in which the degree was granted, or
2. Schools of osteopathic medicine approved by the Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association for the year in which the degree was granted.
3. For foreign medical graduates not covered in (1) or (2) above, facility officials must verify with the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) that the applicant has met requirements for certification, and must obtain a copy of the ECFMG certificate, if claimed by the applicant. [If the applicant does not claim an ECFMG certificate, facility officials must still confirm that the medical school meets (or met) ECFMG eligibility requirements for the year the candidate graduated.]
