This position is located at the VA Medical Center in Murfreesboro, TN. You will serve the Nashville and Alvin C. York campuses of the TVHS as Budget Technician in the Administrative Support Section of Engineering Service.

Duties

***THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION*** Duties include but are not limited to the following. Performs daily evaluation and entering of budgetary requests from the various sections of Engineering into multiple fund control points in the IFCAPS program (Integrated Funds Distribution, Control Point Activity, Accounting and Procurement). Responsible for maintaining the Government Inventory Program (GIP) for the service as it relates to reordering of supplies, reports on usage, changes in products, etc. Daily reviewing of invoices received for services to assure agreement of obligated dollar amounts and receipt of actual services. Reconciliation of fund control points balances in IFCAPS with corresponding FMS control point balances. Responsible for the purchase of stock and/or emergency repair parts; operating supplies; and services for Engineering Service. Preparation of weekly status of funds report on the fund control points. Using either a word processor or a conventional typewriter, types narrative and tabular material such as memoranda, correspondence and reports from rough draft, verbal instructions or revised typed draft. Processes and maintains documents in a variety of computer programs such as AEMS/MERS, ASISTS, TEMPO, IFCAPS, etc. by inputting information from subsidiary records. Maintains subject matter files and records that relate to the work of the service. Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you must meet the below requirements: TYPING PROFICIENCY: This position requires the skills of a qualified typist. In addition to meeting the experience requirements, you must be able to type at least 40 words per minute. AND Specialized Experience:Applicants must have one (1) full year specialized experience equivalent to at least next lower grade (GS-5) level in the Federal service. Specialized experience includes utilizing bookkeeping procedures and general office automation software, reconciling obligations, identifying discrepancies, compiling, and preparing various budget related reports. You will be rated on the following Competencies as part of the assessment questionnaire for this position: Client OrientationPlan and organize workPrinciples of Accounting IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements: The work is mostly sedentary, however, some walking to other offices or buildings, bending, stooping, and standing is required. Carrying of light items such as books, files and supplies is required.
