This position is located in the Maintenance and Repair Section, Facilities Management Service, Eastern Colorado Health Care System. The incumbent works under the direct supervision of the Maintenance and Repair (M&R) Supervisor.

Duties

Application of paint with brush, roller or spray gun to interior or exterior surfaces where appearance as well as surface protection is important. Removes old paint and prepares surfaces by scraping, sandpapering or applying paint remover; putties or spackles holes and cracks, and sands smooth. Applies primer, intermediate and finish coats as necessary; finishes and refinishes furniture intermediate and finish coats as necessary. Finishes and refinishes furniture by brush or spray painting including the removal of old finishes. Sand and clean surfaces, filling and staining wood, applying shellac, varnish, lacquer and/or other finishing materials, prepares stencils and paints signs for roads, traffic control and other uses. Lay-out and marks off parking lanes using spray gun, brush and roller. Perform replacement of suspended ceiling tile panels in accordance with the FMS Work Order Program or Supervisor direction. Applies wallpaper, vinyl wall covering and other roll type coverings including photomurals to walls using proper adhesives and tools of the paper handing trade. Assisting other craftsmen in, and in their absence or when specifically assigned, performing repairs on other equipment and systems as directed by the Supervisor. Performs replacement of suspended ceiling tile panels and patches penetrations in smoke and fire barriers, in accordance with the Engineering Work Performance Standards Program. Work Schedule: 6:00am-2:30pm Monday-Friday Position Description Title/PD#: Painter/PD01749A Physical Requirements: The incumbent frequently must move desks, loaded filing cabinets and other office equipment, beds, tables and other ward equipment to provide working space; lift and carry 5 gallon containers of paint and thinners; work from free standing ladders up to ten f eet high, extension ladders from 16 to 24 feet high and from scaffolds; the work requires kneeling, stooping, standing and stretching. Continually handles objects weighing up to 10 pounds and occasionally handles objects weighing up to 40 pounds.
