About the Position: The U. S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Program Coordinator (PC) for the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative (GLRI) will report to the Environmental Laboratory's (EL) Technical Director of Civil Works, Environmental Engineering and Sciences at the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC).
This position will support the Great Lakes Program Manager at the Great Lakes and Ohio River Division (LRD) in planning and executing GLRI projects and initiatives.
Duties
Serve as lead USACE representative for GLRI Focus Area 1 (Toxic Substances and Areas of Concern).
In conjunction with other Federal and State agencies, provide collaborative technical, financial/budgetary, policy and outreach expertise to effectively coordinate current and future USACE portfolios of Focus Area 1 projects and initiatives.
Assist USACE District and Division staff in the development and execution of USACE GLRI projects and initiatives in the following areas:
Focus Area 2 (Invasive Species), Focus Area 3 (Nonpoint Source Pollution Impacts on Nearshore Health), Focus Area 4 (Habitats and Species) and Focus Area 5 (Foundations for Future Restoration Actions).
Manage and coordinate the Great Lakes Remedial Action Plan (RAP) program in the Great Lakes.
Manage and coordinate the Great Lakes Regional Sediment Management (RSM) program in the Great Lakes.
Manage and coordinate provision of USACE technical assistance and general support services to remove beneficial use impairments and delist Areas of Concern.
Serve as primary POC for Nature and Natural Based Features (NNBF) initiatives in the Great Lakes region.
Coordinate outreach activities and leverage relationships with USEPA, other Federal agencies, Great Lakes States, Great Lakes Tribes, Great Lakes Commissions, NGOs, conservancy groups, etc. to achieve USACE capabilities.
Develop strategic research and development opportunities in conjunction with the USACE, GLRI and ERDC?s Office of the Technical Director for Civil Works Environmental Engineering and Sciences.
Provide and coordinate technical support in the development of strategies and tools for GLRI communications, technology transfer, and training.
Represent the GLRI and ERDC?s Office of the Technical Director at meetings, workshops, and conferences, to include presentations and briefings

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One year of specialized experience which includes meeting 2 or the 3 experiences (1) scoping, planning and leading multidisciplinary research activities; (2) scheduling, budgeting, and resourcing studies of systems and processes related to developing new technology and research; and/or (3)?experience conducting research in the areas environmental engineering and sciences. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).

This position is covered by the Science and Technology Laboratory Personnel Management Demonstration Project at the DB-XXXX-04 (equivalent to GS-12-14).
