Duties
This position serves as the Administrative Support Assistant to the Protection Division and requires interaction with park managers, supervisors, and staff members on administrative matters such as coordinating and scheduling meetings, attending meetings, and serving on appropriate work teams/groups. Monitor division expenses during the year and works with Budget Analyst to reconcile division accounts. Purchases supplies, equipment, and services for the division utilizing a credit/purchase card and reconciles the monthly statement. Serves as technical advisor to unit personnel on travel and prepares travel authorizations and vouchers using automated systems and software. Serves as the primary timekeeper for the division and reviews time and attendance submission and assures it is correctly entered into the automated timekeeping system. Maintains office files (electronic or manual), including project files, administrative material, reports, and forms. Types and composes correspondence, memoranda, reports, work schedules, meeting minutes etc., from drafts or notes using word processing software and computer equipment.
Physical Demands: Work requires sitting at a desk, standing, bending, reaching, walking and lifting.
Work Environment: Work is performed primarily in an office setting but may be performed out in the field.

Ozark National Scenic Riverways is located in the heart of the Ozark Highlands of Missouri, in the southeastern portion of the state on the Current and Jack's Fork Rivers. The park features 134 miles of crystal clear, spring-fed rivers that are flanked by scenic bluffs, low mountains, and numerous springs and caves. Recreational opportunities abound and include kayaking, "tubing", fishing, hunting, and swimming. Hiking and mountain biking trails are plentiful in the area.
The duty station for this position is at Park Headquarters in Van Buren, Missouri. Limited shopping, medical, and dental are available. For more shopping, medical, dental, and entertainment Popular Bluff and West Plains, Missouri are approximately 40 miles from Van Buren. Summers are warm and humid and winters are normally mild. Major attractions are located in St. Louis, Springfield, and Memphis two and half to three hours away.

Qualifications
All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-08/18/2023-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement.
Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and the resume must reflect full and/or part-time or total number of hours worked (i.e., work 40+ hours a week, rather than indicating full-time). If part-time, the hours must be annotated to be able to pro-rate the amount of qualified specialized experience.
SELECTIVE FACTOR: This position performs typing, and the ability to type 40 words per minute is required. You must document this in your application package. Candidates who do not meet this requirement by close of this announcement will receive no further consideration for this position.

To qualify for this position at the GS-05 grade level, you must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement:
EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as: knowledge of maintaining a filing system both electronic and hard copy, the use of computers to develop correspondence, memos, forms and other standardized documents, experience preparing time and attendance, the administrative processes and procedures in travel, and knowledge of commonly used software including word processing.

EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least four years of education above high school (120 semester hour or 180 quarter hours) leading to a bachelor's degree. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school. You MUST submit a copy of your transcripts indicating degree earned and credit hours in order to qualify based on education. A copy of your official transcripts will be required before entrance on duty, if selected.

Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described above. The total must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. NOTE: Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours of a course of study leading to a bachelor's degree is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirements. Two full academic years of study, or 60 semester hours, beyond the second year is equivalent to l year of specialized experience. For example, I have 6 months of the specialized experience described in A above (50% of the experience requirement), and 3 years of college study from an accredited institution (50% of the qualifying education). You MUST submit a copy of your transcripts indicating degree earned and credit hours in order to qualify based on education. A copy of your official transcripts will be required before entrance on duty, if selected.
Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

To qualify based on education, you must submit a legible copy of transcripts from an
accredited institution with your name, school name, credit hours, course level, major(s), and grade-point average or class ranking. Transcripts do not need to be official, but if you are selected for this position and you used your education to qualify, you must provide official transcripts before you begin work.
If you are using
education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet qualification requirements, you must show that your education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
