The Budget Technician serves the Nashville and ACY campuses of the TVHS in the Administrative Support section of Engineering Service. The work requires a fully qualified typist with knowledge of bookkeeping procedures and general office automation software performed on a microprocessor or mainframe network. Provides clerical assistance in other areas as needed.

Duties

Major duties include: Daily evaluation and entering of budgetary requests from the various sections of Engineering into multiple fund control points. Evaluate and assign appropriate fund control point, cost center, and BOC to each request for parts or service. Maintaining the Government Inventory Program for the service as it relates to reordering of supplies, reports on usage, changes in products, etc. Daily reviewing of invoices received for services to assure the agreement of obligated dollar amounts and receipt of actual services. Reconciliation of fund control points and balances. Process requests for obligation, receipt of services/supplies for payment, reconciliation, and preparation of reports. Types narrative and tabular material such as memoranda, correspondence and reports. Records and prepares minutes of meetings as required. Performs electronic timekeeping duties. Other duties as assigned. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm Virtual: This is not a virtual position. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 08/31/2023. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. In addition to meeting the time-in-grade requirement, applicants must also possess the following specialized experience: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade, GS-05, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience is defined as evaluating and entering budget requests into multiple fund control points; requisitioning office supplies for the campus; maintaining inventory programs; reviewing invoices daily; reconciliation of fund control point balances; knowledge of accounting principles; preparation of weekly status of funds reports. NOTE: Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must clearly indicate the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position: Budget AdministrationClericalPrinciples of Accounting Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements: The work is mostly sedentary, however, some walking to other offices or buildings, bending, stooping, and standing is required. Carrying of light items such as books, files and supplies is required. Incumbent may be required to travel between campuses of TVHS. Work is performed in an office setting which is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated.
