The incumbent is responsible for program support to Home and Community Based Services, as part of the Geriatrics & Extended Care Clinical Center, in Perry Point, MD, which is part of the VA Maryland Health Care System (VAMHCS).
Duties
***THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION***
Monitoring of average daily patient census.
Updates patient waitlists.
Gathers statistics for reports and audits of programs.
Manages work processing programs, data bases, spreadsheets, and various software programs.
Communicates and interacts professionally with staff on all levels, community partners, and VA leadership.
Communicates and engages Veterans, visitors, community partners and all VA medical staff in a courteous, tactful, and respectful manner.
Addresses conflict and difficulty with Veterans, community partners and VA staff constructively and appropriately.
Uses general knowledge of accounting concepts and auditing procedures to ensure proper charges for the services provided by the programs.
Sends communications to community partners to initiate care.
Certifies and processes invoices for the programs.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm

Qualifications
To qualify for this position at the GS-6 grade level, you must meet the following:
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-5) in Federal Service, that has provided the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of a Program Support Assistant. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: maintaining calendars and schedules; scheduling appointments, interviews, meetings and conferences; preparing letters, memorandums, medical correspondence, performance appraisals, and creating detailed spreadsheets. NOTE: Experience must be fully documented on your resume and must include job title, duties, month and year start/end dates AND hour worked per week.
