About the Position: The primary purpose of this position is: To provide specialized assistance, counseling, and individualized guidance concerning the Health Benefits including the TRICARE managed health care program. This position is located within the 10TH MDG USAF Academy. 10TH MDG USAF Academy, Dir of Admin, Tricare Operations.
Duties
Provides information and assistance based upon personal, written, or telephone inquires concerning both inpatient and outpatient medical care under the USHBP and medical care from civilian sources under the TRICARE program.
Provides detailed advice on the many benefits covered by the USHBP and provides information concerning services which are excluded by the program.
Provides specific advice on all eligibility requirements, exclusions of certain diseases or conditions, coverage of medical conditions, out of pocket cost, coordination of benefits, and any applicable program rules.
Provides advisory services on benefits offered through the TRICARE program.
Explains the full range of available benefits and entitlements as well as eligibility requirements, options, limitations, and relationship to the Defense Eligibility Enrollment Reporting System (DEERS).
Troubleshoots and resolves problems for TRICARE beneficiaries and providers.
Resolves complaints of nonpayment or incorrect payment by TRICARE fiscal intermediary to beneficiaries and civilian health care providers.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.

- The employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays
- This position may have a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and could be subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One-year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service which includes documented experience which demonstrates experience in: 1) Providing counseling and or guidance to patients and/or family members with medical insurance claims, problems, and questions; 2) utilizing automated systems for receiving and or tracking of patient's information; 3) ensuring all patients are eligible for benefits in accordance with policies and regulations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
