Duties
Maintains the physical security of the institution through installation, maintenance and repairs of an array of electronic systems inclusive, but not limited to, PBX telephone switch, trunked radio systems, fire alarm systems, perimeter detection systems, programmable logic controllers and CCTV/DVR systems. These systems are critical to the physical security of the institution in preserving the safety and well- being of staff and the inmate populace. Maintains, develops modifications, and ensures the reliability of the institution's electronic security and communication systems. Provides technical support during the preparation of drawings and specifications for electronic and telecommunication equipment as required by B&F Projects, Work Orders, etc. Conducts inspections and performs preventive maintenance as required by policy. Along with all other correctional institution employees, incumbent is charged with responsibility for maintaining security of the institution. The staffs correctional responsibilities precede all others required by this position and are performed on a regular and recurring basis.

Qualifications
To be considered for the position, you must meet the following qualification requirements. Education: GL-09: Two full years of graduate education or a master's degree, only in those instances where it is directly related to the work of the position. GL-10: There is no substitution of education for specialized experience. OR Experience: GL-09 and GL-10: You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level in federal service. To be creditable, this experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular qualifications to perform successfully the duties of the position to be filled. Some examples of this qualifying experience are: GL-09:
Experience in the use of a variety of schematic diagrams and testing equipment to test, troubleshoot, modify, calibrate, install, maintain, repair, or construct electronic equipment.
Experience identifying and correcting electronic deficiencies and recommend improved procedures.
Experience working in programmable logic controllers, CCTV/DVR systems and fire.
GL-10:
Experience performing installation, maintenance, operation and testing duties on electronic equipment.
Experience reading, interpreting, and working from blueprints, drawings, schematics, and specifications.
Experience working with PBX phone switches, trunked radio systems, and electronic fences.
If applicable, credit will be given paid and unpaid experience. To receive proper credit, you must show the actual time (such as number of hours worked per week) spent in the activities.
