This position is part of the Office of the Inspector General, Government Publishing Office in Washington,
District of Columbia.
Duties
Develop assessment tools to evaluate program fraud, waste, and abuse.
Recommend policies and actions to resolve matters pertaining to fraud, waste, abuse, mismanagement, or non-compliance violations.
Analyze results of investigations, inspections or audits and apply federal or agency statutes, regulations, policies, or guidelines.
Oversee audits, inspections, or investigations into the allegations of fraud, waste, misuse, or other forms of noncompliance within an agency to initiate corrective actions.
Review and analyze policies, methods, systems, and procedures for plans and programs.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship is Required.
- Selectee must successfully pass pre-employment prior to appointment.
- Selectee may be required to serve a one year probationary period.
- Males born after 12/03/59 must be registered for Selective Service.
- Selectee must be able to obtain and maintain Top Secret clearance.
- Confidential Financial Disclosure report may be required.
- TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must meet time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. Applicants must have served 1 year at the next lower grade level or equivalent grade level of federal service to qualify.
Qualifications
To qualify for the Deputy Inspector General, PG -1801-15, you must meet the following requirements:
1. Selective Placement Factor. A Selective Placement Factor is a prerequisite to appointment or placement and represent minimum requirements for a position. Applicants who do not meet the Selective Placement Factor are ineligible for further consideration. (Note: You must address the Selective Placement Factor in a separate attachment to your resume). If you do not address the Selective Placement Factor separately; you will not receive further consideration for this position. The selective placement Factor is: Demonstrated one year of supervisory or managerial experience preferably in an Office of the Inspector General that includes experience in audits, inspections, and/or investigative programs. This must be reflected in your resume and be included in a separate document attached to your application.

2. Specialized Experience: Specialized experience is defined as having at least one year at the next lower grade level of PG-14 or GS-14 level (equivalent or higher in federal or private sector government experience) and the specialized experience must include, but is not limited to the following duties: 1) planning, organizing, directing, coordinating and controlling an Inspector General's (IG) office functions to include: investigative, inspections; audit functions and operations); 2) conducting, leading and directing audits, inspections, or investigations of the most sensitive nature; 3) providing oversight responsibility of inspections, investigative, or audit functions in an effort to deter fraud, waste, mismanagement and abuse; and 4) developing and implementing policy for the conducting of audits, inspections, or investigations of outside contractors and inter-agency offices' audits and investigations.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
