This is a National Guard Title 32 Excepted position for a LOGISTICS MANAGEMENT SPECIALST, Position Description Number D1414P01, and is part of the 169 LRS, South Carolina Air National Guard.
Duties
This position is located in the Plans and Integration Section of the Deployment and Distribution Flight, Logistics Readiness Squadron, Mission Support Group, at an ANG Aviation Wing. Serves as the Logistics Officer with responsibility for overall program management, direction, and control of wing logistics planning that includes multiple units and may include geographically separated units where no logistics management personnel are assigned. The primary purpose of this position is to manage, direct, develop and implement policy programs and procedures for the accurate management of Wing Logistics planning. Serves as the Logistics Officer/Specialist and provides administrative and technical oversight to a lower-graded specialist. This position is responsible for fully prepared, assigned unit personnel and equipment for Aerospace Expeditionary Force/Wing (AEF/AEW) Operations around the world.
Manages, directs, and implements the local formulation and publication of installation deployment guidance based on regulations, manuals, instructions, and directives issued by higher headquarters.
Serves as the Installation Deployment Officer (IDO), and acts for the Commander, regarding actions required to deploy in support of Aerospace Expeditionary Forces (AEF), contingency operations, Operations Other Than War (OOTW), and exercises.
Reviews USAF, NGB, and MAJCOM deployment procedures to analyze the impact and, if necessary, provide modifications to procedures for the wing and subordinate units. Establishes deployment policy and sets procedures for the integrated efforts of aircraft maintenance, supply, transportation, civil engineering, operations, and supported units for mission essential deployment operations and logistics war planning. Ensures that units meet pre-execution and command and control requirements for deployments. Analyzes time-phased force deployment requirements to develop plan annexes and schedules for inclusion in the execution phase of wing deployments. Plans and controls the movement of personnel and equipment during simulated and actual deployments and exercises.
Requirements
- NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. This is a Title 32 Technician Vacancy that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the closing date of the job vacancy.

- Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
- Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.

Qualifications
THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION OPEN TO THE FOLLOWING AREA OF CONSIDERATION (AOC):
Area of Consideration: This position is open to Area 1 Only.
Area 1: Current Permanent On-Board dual status technicians employed with the SC Air National Guard. (Does not include temporary and indefinite technicians).
Area 2: Current military members of the SC Air National Guard.
Area 3: Current nationwide Air National Guard military members, AF Reserve military members, and RegAF. (Must be willing to transfer to the SC Air National Guard).
*Note- Temporary and Indefinite employees do not meet permanent tenure requirements and are not eligible for Area 1.
MILITARY REQUIREMENTS:
This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. Min/Max Military Grades: O3/O4
MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Military skill set is determined by AFSC requirements. Upon selection, individuals must be assigned to a compatible military AFSC in accordance with statutes and National Guard Bureau regulations and must obtain/maintain all requirements of the AFSC.
For positions requiring a security clearance (Secret or Top Secret) the applicant must possess or be able to obtain a clearance within one year of appointment.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Experience, education or training involving judgment and/or analytical ability in the logistics field. Experience using computer and automation systems.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Must have at least 36 months experience, education, or training identifying activities involving logistical support operations. Experience integrating the actions of a variety of specialized support activities in order to develop a comprehensive logistics plan. Experience monitoring such functions as program planning, resource and fiscal management, training, manpower management, and/or automated data processing to meet the logistics plan. Experience identifying delays or problems and developing corrective actions. Experience working with people from various levels and backgrounds to elicit their cooperation to perform specific tasks, and complying with regulations, laws, or practices.
Education
Substitution of Education for Specialized Experience - Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in any field leading to a bachelor's degree, in an accredited college or university, meets the GS-5 level requirements.
