About the Position: You will serve as the Logistics Management Specialist for the Department of the Army Criminal Investigation Division, Gillem Logistics Operations Center organization providing forensic laboratory support to Overseas Contingency Operations (OCO), intelligence organizations and legal agencies, as well as other federal and non-federal agencies.

Duties

Develops methods to procure transportation and material handling equipment. Assesses annual requirements and programs for long term high cost expenditures. Responsible for developing transportation and logistical plans for the worldwide deployment and support of an Forensics Exploitation Laboratory (FXL). Makes technical decisions and resolves policy and procedure logistics matters involving transportation and related areas. Plans for logistical sustainment to support the successful accomplishment of the assigned FXL mission in both CONUS fixed institutional and mobile (OCO) expeditionary environments. Analyzes policies, procedures and regulatory requirements, and assesses impact on the logistics support Acquires supplies and equipment by use of the Government Purchase Card (GPC). Requisitions supplies and equipment thru GCSS-Army, TWELS, or the DCAM System.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret clearance.
  • Physical exam required.
  • Must meet DoD/DA physical screening requirements for deployment to OCONUS locations established by the CONUS Replacement Center (CRC) for OCONUS deployment, to include meeting the deployment requirements for physical and dental deployment readiness.
  • Requires TDY travel up to 15% of the time.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Must participate in DNA profiling database within the Forensic Exploitation Department (FXD).
  • Position is subject to Lautenberg/Domestic Violence Misdemeanor amendments.
  • May be required to carry firearm.
  • Job will require shift work with normal 8-hour shifts but may require working extended 12-hour shift, 7 days a week.
  • These positions may require extended temporary duty travel.
  • Applicants must possess a valid motor vehicle operator?s license at the time of appointment,
  • Must maintain vehicle operator's license while employed in the position and will be required to operate motor vehicle in accordance with applicable OPM regulations and related requirements of Department of the Army.

NOTE:**This is a TERM NTE 3 YEARS position with the possibility of becoming permanent at a later date, but not guaranteed. ** Position may be filled as a temporary promotion, temporary reassignment, or temporary change to lower grade NTE 3 YEARS by a current permanent Army employee. Temporary promotions, reassignments, or change to lower grades may be extended up to a maximum of five years, and may be made permanent without further competition. Position may be filled as a Term appointment NTE 3 YEARS, if the candidate is not a current permanent Army employee. Term appointments may be extended up to a maximum of eight years. This position may be converted to permanent career or career-conditional appointment without further competition as long as all requirements are met. To be eligible for conversion, employee must complete at least 2 years of current continuous service under a term appointment in the competitive service AND employee must have a current performance rating under such term appointment of at least fully successful or equivalent.
