The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a training instructor.
Duties
Instructs students through assigned blocks of instruction at basic and/or advanced levels.
Develops and/or revises lesson plans and training materials.
Monitors and evaluates student progress and performance.
Inputs necessary data into the Technical Training Management System (TTMS).
Maintains professional and technical expertise.

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions, GS-1712, series Plus IOR.

For Community College of the Air Force GS-1712 positions only: Section 9315 of 10 USC directs the commander of the Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) to comply with standards established by the Secretary of Education to confer associate degrees upon enlisted members who have completed the requirements for the prescribed programs of study. To comply with this directive, all faculty members of the Community College of the Air Force must meet minimum educational requirements as prescribed by the accrediting body Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, Commission on Colleges (SACS-COC), i.e. accreditation criteria.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes: Study course objectives, technical orders, and other materials to prepare for instruction. Present material; use training aids/devices; maintain classroom decorum; and ensure supplies, equipment, and classrooms are available for training. Apply knowledge of training principles and techniques to motivate students and make instruction effective. Serve as the subject matter specialist in the development and/or revision of training materials such as study guides, workbooks, written tests, progress checks, etc. Prepare daily lesson plans. Evaluate student progress/performance; take prompt, effective action. Initiate documentation, update student training records, and schedule resources required for instruction. Attends courses, conferences, and briefings to increase knowledge of training processes and procedures.

EDUCATION: Successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree OR 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree OR LL. B or J.D., if related with a major study in education or a subject area related to the position to be filled. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts.

COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-07 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of instruction. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of personnel.
2. Knowledge of training aids and devices used in training programs. Ability to analyze problems and develop appropriate solutions.
3. Knowledge of instructional design and materials development for assigned courses. Knowledge and skill in electrical principles to include a working knowledge of maintenance on energized high voltage (7200) circuits.
4. Knowledge of tests and measurement principles, techniques, and objectives. Knowledge and skill in pole climbing methods to include climbing and working at heights up to 40 feet.
5. Knowledge of computer applications.
6. Skill in written and oral communication.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
