About the Position: This position is located at Defense Health Agency, 359th Medical Group, Joint Base San Antonio, Randolph Air Force Base, Medical Logistics, Bexar, Texas.

Duties

Ensures that items such as hypodermic needles and syringes are stored and controlled in accordance with special handling and storage procedures. Delivers supplies throughout the military treatment facility. Checks condition of items before issue and obtains authorized signature on Delivery Lists when necessary. Performs controlled medical item management tasks. Ensure access procedures to the controlled vault are in accordance with all established policies, regulations and procedures. Access controlled warehouse vault to receive, safeguard, issue, suspend, and turn in all controlled items and narcotics ordered in support of the Medical Treatment Facility and associated with assemblages.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid stateside driver's license.
  • A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
  • Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
  • Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS.
  • This position requires you to submit a Public Financial Disclosure Report (OGE 278) or a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report (OGE450) upon entry, and annually thereafter.
  • Moderate to heavy lifting up to 60 pounds is required.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Materials Handler ~ without more than normal supervision. This includes the ability to do the work of a Materials Handler without more than normal supervision, to include experience with Materials Logistics automated systems such as DMLSS and Logicole; handle controlled substances such as narcotics and items ordered. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Physical Effort: Works on hard surfaces and in work areas that require standing, stooping, bending, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. May lift and carry weights up to 40 pounds. May handle heavier items with weight lifting equipment or with assistance from other workers. Working Conditions: Work is done inside and outside in areas that may be hot, damp, cold, drafty, or poorly lighted. Employee is regularly exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, bruises, and falls from ladders, falling material, or injury from equipment. May be exposed to dust, dirt, grease, solvents, and high noise areas while working in a mechanized work area, or radiation, toxins, explosives hazards, or chemical fumes while working in a hazardous materials area. May be required to wear protective clothing such as hard hats, steel toed shoes, rubber gloves, masks, and rubber aprons.
