The Huntington West Virginia VA Medical Center is recruiting (1) Inventory Management Specialist (NX) in the Lifecycle Management Section (NX) of the Supply Chain Management Service in a Veteran Affairs Health Care System (VA HCS), and supported catchment area, the incumbent will be responsible for the inventory and lifecycle management of all non-expendable (NX) equipment in the assigned area(s).

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement 08/30/2023 Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. To meet the minimum qualifications for this position at the GS-07 grade level, you must meet the following requirement: Specialized Experience GS-7: One (1) full year of specialized experience that equipped you with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties the Inventory Management Specialist at the full performance level (GS-7), and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled? To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-5) in the Federal service. Example of Specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Conducts short, mid, and long-term advance planning for new and replacement NX assets, utilizing enterprise-wide computerized planning tools. Analyzes data to include projected lifecycle, down time, repair rates, lost workload, cost depreciation, trade-in value and other factors which impact procurement decisions. Advanced planning requires significant interaction and coordination with service lines, biomedical engineering, and other stakeholders to balance competing priorities including clinical requirements technological enhancements, and budget constraints. Computes requirements for equipment inventory items. Utilizes a range of well-established, and commonly applied inventory principles, standard and non-standard mythologies, and concepts to determine the need to intervene the supply system in response to fluctuations in rates, usage, cost, and availability for established suppliers, alternative sources of supply and other similar conditions. Note: Experience must be fully documented on your resume and must include job title, duties, month and year start/end dates AND hour worked per week. OR, Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. Do you have at least one (1) full year of graduate level education that equipped you with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position or have superior academic achievement with your bachelor's degree with one of the following: graduated in the top third of graduating class, graduated with a grade point average of 3.0 or higher or a member of a national scholastic honor society. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This involves a mix working in an office environment to working in warehouse setting. Work conditions are outside and inside with access to a personal computer and computerized and manual equipment records, but could occasionally be dirty, excessive heat, excessive cold, excessive humid, dust, electrical energy, slippery and uneven walking surfaces, working around moving objects or vehicles, and working close with others, when involved in property inventories, primarily consisting of walking, standing, kneeling, repeated bending, pushing, straight pulling, and moderate lifting, and carrying items generally between 15-44 pounds is required when receiving new equipment at the facility and preparing for the sale of excess property, including receipt storage and distribution of various supplies, disposal of equipment or transferring of equipment between service location, recycling centers or within catchment area.
